Exterior Palnet are a band from Croatia that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2017 album "Dorsia".
Acoustic guitars start off the album along with some elements of post rock before going into more of a heavier musical direction while the faster sections of the songs also use a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the songs a more raw feeling as well as the vocals being mostly hateful black metal screams.
Some of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the music also has its atmospheric moments along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them, a great amount of melody can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing and acoustic guitars also make a return on some of the later tracks and on some songs the music also brings in progressive and experimental elements.
Exterior Palnet plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric while the post, progressive and experimental elements makes the music stand out a lot more, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover science fiction themes.
In my opinion Exterior Palnet are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "II" "IV" and "VII". 8 out of 10.
