Aether are a band from Germany that plays a rough form of black metal with a depressive note and this is a review of their 2018 album "Ego Vitium Sum" which was released by Pest Productions.
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams which also have a depressive edge at times.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style while all of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as a couple of tracks also introducing acoustic guitars onto the recording, as the album progresses a brief use of spoken word parts can be heard on a couple of songs and the riffs also bring in a great amount of melody.
Aether plays a style of black metal that mixes the raw, melodic, depressive and atmospheric sides of the genre together, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in German and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Aether are a very great sounding raw, melodic, depressive and atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Wltverderben" and "Des Weges Ende". 8 out of 10.
