Runeshard are a solo project from Hungary that plays a musical style he describes as being epic power black metal and this is a review of his 2018 ep "Dreaming Spire" which will be released on September 23rd by Wolfspell Records.
Keyboards start off the ep and they also bring in the atmosphere of a fantasy along with some epic and symphonic elements which also mixes into the heavier sections of the music while the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some spoken word parts also being utilized at times and you can also hear a lot of Bal Sagoth influences throughout the recording.
Runeshard plays a style of black metal that is very epic and symphonic while also picking up the style that has been missing since the last Bal Sagoth album, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Fantasy and Battle themes.
In my opinion Runeshard are a very great sounding epic power black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Draming Spire" and "Atlantean Sword". 8/5 out of 10.
