RDS 220 are a band from Belgium that plays a raw mixture of black metal and crust and this is a review of their double 2018 cassette compilation "Hell Is Truth Seen Too Late Chapters I & II" which was released by Svart Blod.
Spoken word samples start off the compilation along with some powerful sounding bass guitars and war sounds a few seconds later while clean playing can also be heard briefly before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the riffs also add in a small amount of dark sounding melodies along with a great amount of crust punk and d beat elements as well as the guitar leads being done in a very raw and melodic style and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and clean vocals can also be heard briefly.
RDS 220 plays a musical style that takes a very raw and melodic form of black metal and mixes it with crust punk to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion RDS 220 are a very great sounding raw mixture of black metal and crust and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ashoka's Hell" and "Triumphant On The Ruins Of The World". 8 out of 10.
