Marrasmieli are a band from Finland that plays a very melodic form of pagan black metal with elements of folk music and this is a review of their self titled 2018 ep which will be released on September 29th by Naturmacht Productions.
Nature sound s start off the ep before going into a very fast, raw and melodic musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while epic sounding synths can also be heard in the background along with some folk instruments also being used at times.
Vocals are mostly grim black metal screams while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as both of the tracks being very long and epic in length and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style, acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly.
Marrasmieli plays a style of pagan black metal that is very raw, melodic, atmospheric and epic sounding while also adding in elements of folk music to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover paganism a nd nature themes.
In my opinion Marrasmieli are a very great sounding melodic pagan black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "What Nature Fears". 8 out of 10.
