Goat are a band from Greece that plays a very old school and bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their self titled 2020 album which was released by Tanatofobia Productions.
A very apocalyptic and synth orientated intro starts off the album before going into a heavier musical direction. All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them while the faster sections of the songs also bring in a great amount of war metal elements and tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with some bestial growls also being utilized at times. The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while also being very heavily influenced by the modern era but also maintaining a very modern atmosphere as well as the synths also capturing the atmosphere of a classic science fiction movie soundtrack when they return on some of the later tracks.
Sounds of war can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with the music also showing an influence of the classic death metal style as well as each track also being under 3 minutes in length and as the album progresses you can also hear some very blasphemous samples. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover war, Armageddon, violence and blasphemy themes.
In my opinion Goat are a very great sounding old school and bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Progression To Violence" "Nuclear Atomic Desolation" and "Mary Slut". 8 out of 10.
