Ild are a solo project from Norway that plays a very atmospheric, melancholic and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of his 2020 ep "Knippe" which was released by Screaming Skull Records.
A very dark, heavy and melodic sound starts off the ep along with some depressive black metal screams a few seconds later. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the music also has its atmospheric moments and most of the tracks are also0 very long and epic in length.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very dark yet melodic style while the tremolo picking also gives the songs more of a raw feeling when it is utilized. Most of the music also beings in more of a modern sounding atmosphere and all of the tracks also stick to either a slow or mid tempo direction.
Ild plays a style of black metal t hat is very atmospheric, melancholic and depressive sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Norwegian and cover nature, death, solitude and despair themes.
In my opinion Ild are a very great sounding atmospheric, melancholic and depressive black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hjemkomst" and "Offervals". 8 out of 10.
