Wesenwille are a band from t he Netherlands that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a very atmospheric, dissonant and progressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "II: A Material God" which will be released in March by les Acteurs de L'Ombre Productions.
Dark soundscapes start off the album along with a brief use of spoken word parts before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the music also adds in a decent amount of dissonant structures and the solos and leads are also done in a very dark, chaotic yet melodic style.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the tremolo picking also giving the songs more of a raw feeling when they are utilized.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding along with a great portion of the tracks also being very long and epic in length as well as the music also having its progressive moments, as the album progresses spoken word parts also make a brief return The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the devolopment of technology and societal structures.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Wesenville and if you are a fan of atmospheric, dissonant and progressive black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Opulent Black Smog" "Ritual" and "The Introversion Of Sacrifice". 8 out of 10.
