This is a review of a split album between Chile's Funeral Fullmoon and Canada's Nocturnal Prayer called "Disciples Of The Moonlight Worship" which will be released in November by Inferna Profundus Records and we will start off the review with Funeral Fullmoon who return with their raw style of vampyric black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some thunder sounds and evil sounding melodies while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling along with the vocals also being mostly grim sounding black metal screams.
A lot of their music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them. Some of their tracks are also very long and epic in length as well as the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and they close their side of the split with an Emperor cover. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Darkness, Vampirism, Melancholy, Black metal and hatred themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Funeral Fullmoon and if you are a fan of raw and vampyric black metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Gates Of Majestic Darkness" and "Enchanted Forest And Winter Melancholy".
Next up is Nocturnal Prayer a solo project that returns with a very raw and old school form of black metal.
His side of the split starts out with a very dark yet heavy sound while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them. Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched sounding black metal screams along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a great amount of blast beats.
When tremolo picking is added into the faster riffing they also give the songs more of a raw feeling. Most of the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era along with most of the tracks also being very long and epic in length. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing as well as the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style and his side of the split closes with a Satanic Warmaster cover. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover sorcery and darkness themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Nocturnal Prayer and if you are a fan of raw and old school black metal, you should check out his side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Secrets Of Sorcery".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of raw, old school and vampyirc black metal. 8 out of 10.
