Of The Muses are a solo project from Italy that plays blackgaze with elements of doom, post metal and dreampop and this is a review of her 2023 album "Senhal" which will b e released in November by My Kingdom Music.
A very dark, melodic and atmospheric sound starts off the album while all of t he tracks are also very long and epic in length. The solos and leads are also done in more of a post metal style which also adds in a lot of melody along with the keyboards bringing in more of a dreampop orientated atmosphere.
Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched sounding black emtal screams while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording. The slower sections of the songs are also very heavily rooted in doom metal along with the songs also adding in a clear of clear vocals and elements of shoegaze can also be heard at times.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling along with the tracks also capturing a very ethereal and melancholic atmosphere, clean playing is also utilized in certain sections of the album. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover grief and pain themes.
In my opinion Of The Muses is a very great sounding mixture of blackgaze, doom, post metal and dreampop and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "I" and "IV". 8 out of 10.
