Like Sorrow are a solo project from Austin, Texas that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2023 ep "Realm Of Despair".
A very fast and raw sound starts off the ep along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording.
The songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Growls can also be heard at times along with the music also having its atmospheric moments and the music also mixes in influences form both the old school and modern eras of the genre.
Like Sorrow plays a style of black metal that is very melodic and atmospheric sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover death, ghosts and the concept of hell.
In my opinion Like Sorrow are a very great sounding atmospheric and melodic black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A Long Walk Into My Hell" and "From The Woods She Appeared". 8 out of 10.
