This is a review of a split album between U.S.A's Sathanas and Poland's DeathEpoch called "Hellspawn Hegemony" which was released by Putrid Cult Records and we will start off the review with Sathanas a band that plays a mixture of black, death and thrash metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a thrash metal influenced sound while you can also hear all of t he musical instruments that are present on their side of the recording. Vocals are mostly black metal screams along with the music also being very heavily rooted in both the 80's and 90's era and melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing.
Death metal growls can also be heard at times along with the solos and leads also being done in more of an old school style when they are utilized as well as the music always remaining heavy and sticking mostly to more of a mid tempo direction, fast playing and clast beats are also added on the closing track. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover Satanism, Luciferian, occultism and Anti Christianity themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Sathanas and if you are a fan of black, death and thrash metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hail Lucifer" and "To Bring The Ssbbat".
Next up is DeathEpoch who return with a mixture of war, black, death metal. ritual ambient and industrial noise.
Their side of the split starts out with some children music samples before adding in some apocalyptic sounds while also adding in elements of industrial and noise which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times and the vocals bring in a mixture of bestial death growls and the tracks also add in a lot of black metal touches.
A couple of the tracks are also long and epic in length along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of tremolo picking, blast beats and war metal influences which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very chaotic style.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing as well as the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When synths are utilized they also add in touches of ambient along with one song also adding in some power electronics and the music also has its ritualistic moments, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover serial killer themes.
in my opinion this is another great sounding recording from DeathEpoch and if you are a fan of war, bestial black/death metal, ritual ambient and industrial noise, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INNCLUDE "I.H.S" and "B.T.K".
