Zmarlym are a band from Poland that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a very modern form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 ep "Ziemie Jalowe" which will be re-issued on November 24th with bonus tracks by Godz Ov War Productions.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the ep along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are done in an angry black metal style while screams can also be heard at times as well as most of the tracks also being very long and epic in length and the music brings in a more modern Polish style.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while melodies are also added in some of the guitar riffing. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with some of the riffs also adding in dissonant touches , when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style.
A couple of tracks also add in a brief use of clean playing and clear singing along with the music also having its progressive moments and they also bring in a synth orientated instrumental as one of the bonus songs. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Polish and cover pandemic themes.
In my opinion this was another great sounding recording from Zmarlym and if you are a fan of modern Polish black metal, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Szuflady" and "Patrzą na nas tylko satelity". 8 out of 10.
