Mêlée des Aurores are a solo project from Quebec, Canada that plays a brutal, disorientating and suffocating from of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Aube Cannibale" which will be released on November 23rd by Sepilchral Productions.
A very dark, distorted yet heavy sound starts off the album while most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. The songs also add in a lot of dissonant structures along with the faster sections of the songs also adding a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the riffs also add in a lot of melody. When keyboards are utilized they also give the album more of an atmospheric touch along with the vocals being mostly grim yet high pitched sounding black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the music also having its brutal moments. and some tracks also add in some avant garde style instruments, growls can also be heard in certain sections of the album. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in French and cover darkness and nightmare oriented themes.
In my opinion Mêlée des Aurores are a very great sounding brutal, disorientating and suffocating black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Incubation" and Aube Cannibale". 8 out of 10.
