Eftboren are a duo from the United Kingdom that plays a mixture of black metal, post rock and psychedelia and this is a review of their self released and self titled 2023 ep.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the ep along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal style shouts and screams while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Growls can also be heard at times while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Spoken word parts are also utilized briefly along with the second song also introducing clear vocals and elements of post rock as well as some psychedelic touches and each track also sounds very different from each other, clean playing is also added on the closing song.
Eftboren plays a musical style that takes black metal, post rock and psychedelia and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover psychological horror themes.
In my opinion Eftboren are a very great sounding mixture of black metal, post rock and psychedelia and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "{Devoured By Saturn". 8 out of 10.
