En finir are a duo from France that plays a very depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Résigné" which will be released on November 17th by Malpermesita Records.
Clean playing starts off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic direction while the vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black emtal screams. Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the solos and leads also adding in a lot of melody and spoken word parts can also be heard at times.
When the music speeds up a small amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the album more of a raw feeling. Most of the album also sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction along with some synths being added into the background briefly which also gives the recording more of an atmospheric touch, clean playing also returns on some of the later tracks.
En finir plays a style of black metal that is very depressive and melancholic sounding. The production sounds very raw and heavy while t he lyrics are written in French and cover the darkest corners of the human soul..
In my opinion En finir are a very great sounding depressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Seul" and "Mepris". 8 out of 10.
