This is a review of a split cassette between Louisiana's Barghest and California's Teeth which was released by GrimCVLT and we will start off the review with Barghest a band that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very raw form of black metal with some punk and death metal elements.
Their side of the split starts out with rain and thunder sounds along with wolves howling and dark sounding synths and after awhile the music goes into a very fast and raw black metal direction along with some blast beats and high pitched screams and you can also hear a decent amount of melody in the riffing.
Elements of death metal and punk can also be heard in their songs and the music also brings in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic fashion and the vocals also get deep at times and the music also always remains heavy, the production sounds very powerful while the lyrics cover hatred, death and misanthropy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Barghest and if you are a fan of raw and melodic black metal with a touch of punk and death metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Born Of Tooth And Talon" and "The Nameless Tongue".
Next up is Teeth a band that plays a mixture of black, doom and death metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some dark, yet heavy and melodic doom metal riffing and the solos and leads also use a great amount of melody and after a couple of minutes death metal growls and black metal screams are added into the music along with their song going into a faster direction which also utilizes a great amount of blast beats.
The song also brings in a decent mixture of both slow and fast parts while clean guitars can also be heard at times and their only song is over 20 minutes in length and the solos and leads also use a decent amount of melody, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover misanthropic themes.
In my opinion Teeth are a very great sounding mixture of black, doom and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out their side of t he split.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and would recommend it to all fans of black, doom and death metal. 8 out of 10.
