KZOHH are a band f rom Ukraine that has been featured before in this zine and plays a musical style on this recording they describe as being a 'pestilent black metal ritual' and this is a review of their 2016 album "Trilogy: Burn out the Remains" which will be released on September 30th by Ashen Dominion.
Water sounds and atmospheric soundscapes start off the album along with some grim spoken word parts and there is also a brief use of clean singing Gregorian chants as well as some ritualistic beats and after awhile acoustic guitars are added onto the recording and the vocals also get more black metal orientated while also mixing in a melodic edge.
All 3 of the tracks are very long and epic in length and female vocals can also be heard at times and after awhile grim yet high pitched screams and heavy guitars are added onto the recording along with some melodic guitar leads and they also mix in epic sounding keyboards into the heavier sections of the tracks along with some orchestra elements.
The music also gets very experimental and avant garde in some parts of the recording and there is also a brief use of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw black metal feeling and the last track brings in war samples and all 3 of the songs sound very different from each other..
KZOHH on this recording takes their black metal roots and gets a little bit more experimental and avant garde to create something very original, the production sounds very powerful while the lyrics are a concept album based upon the Great Pandemics.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from KZOHH and if you are a fan of experimental black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Crom Conail". 8 out of 10.
