Brahmarakshas are a solo project originally from India put now relocated to the United States that plays an atmospheric mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of his self released and self titled 2016 ep.
Progressive style guitars start off the ep along with some spoken word parts and melodic guitar leads and after awhile the music starts getting a lot more heavier while a decent amount of acoustic guitars can be heard and the music is very experimental at times and black metal screams can also be heard briefly.
Most of the music sticks to a very slow or mid paced musical direction and you can also hear a decent amount of death metal elements in the heavier sections of the songs while the spoken words give the songs more of a poetic edge and when guitar leads are utilized they bring in a more melodic style to the music.
Brahmarakshas plays a musical style that is very experimental while also mixing it with atmospheric black metal and some death metal elements to create something very original, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are based upon the poem "Brahmarakshas" by Gajanan Madhov Muktibodh.
In my opinion Brahmarakshas are a very great sounding experimental and atmospheric mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Superfluous Quest For Absolute perfection". 8 out of 10.
