Tardigrada are a band from Switzerland that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Emotionale Odnis" which will be released in October by Eisenwald.
Clean guitars start off the album and after the intro the music goes into more of a heavier direction along with all of the musical instruments sounding very powerful while the vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams and when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a melodic fashion.
A decent amount of melody can also be heard in the guitar riffing while a great portion of the songs are very long and epic in length and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw black metal feeling and there is an intro before each song which all use clean playing along with a brief use of thunder and rain sounds and the tracks also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Tardigrada plays a style of black metal that is very modern and atmospheric sounding while also has its raw and depressive moments, the production sounds very dark, raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in Swiss and cover feelings and social criticism themes.
In my opinion Tardigrada are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Die Wand" and "Emotionale Oedinis". 8 out of 10.
