Nihilistic Pain are a band from Sweden that plays a very depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "Reach The Purity" which will be released by Obscure Insanity Records.
Distorted drones start off the album before going into a heavier direction along with some depressive black metal screams and when the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard and the music can also be very atmospheric at times and there is also a brief use of spoken word samples.
All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them while some of the songs also bring in more of an experimental side while still being very heavy and the music also brings in a very raw style of black metal and the remaining songs stick to either a slow or mid paced musical direction and a couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Nihilistic Pain plays a style of black metal that is very raw and depressive while being mostly slow or mid paced and also having its experimental moments, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover depressive themes.
In my opinion Nihilistic Pain are a very great sounding depressive black metal and if you a re a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Reach The Purity" and "The Life I Was Given". 8 out of 10.
