Dallas, Texas's Cara Neir have returned with a new recording that continues the mixture of black metal, screamo, crust, grind, punk and post rock of previous recordings and this is a review of their 2016 album "Perpetual Despair Is The Human Condition" which will be released in October by Broken Limbs.
Clean guitars and atmospheric sounds start off the album and spoken word samples can also be heard at times and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking, blast beats and high pitched screams can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw black metal feeling while melodies can also be heard at times.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and elements of post rock/metal can also be heard at times and clean playing also makes a return in certain sections of the recording while some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length as well as bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some tracks bring in influences of crust, screamo and punk and when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion and keyboards can also be heard on some songs briefly.
Cara Neir creates another recording that remains true to the black metal, screamo, crust and post rock mixture of previous recordings, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover desperate and hopeless themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Cara Neir and if you are a fan of this band, you should enjoy this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Spiteful Universe" "Bound by Believers" and "Trials Of The Lost". 8 out of 10.
