Die Schwarze Sonne are a solo project from Finland that plays a very raw and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2019 album "sisalla vain pimeaa" which was released by Wolfmond Production.
A very dark, atmospheric and lo-fi sound starts off the album while some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling and the vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams.
Clean vocals can also be heard briefly while synths can also be heard in some parts of the recording. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with the solos and leads also being done in a very dark and melodic style and the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
At times the vocals also get very deep sounding along with a couple of the tracks also introducing spoken word parts onto the recording as well as the songs also adding in a decent mixture of both old school and modern influences, whispers can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very dark, r aw and lo-fi while the lyrics are written in Finnish and cover a hatred and disgust for modern humanity.
In my opinion Die Schwarze Sonne are a very great sounding raw and atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "II" and "V". 8 out of 10.
