Fugit are a solo project from Italy that plays post black metal and this is a review of his self released 2020 album "Maze On Skin".
Ritualistic sounding bells start off the album along with the drums kicking in a few seconds later while also introducing clean playing onto the recording which also brings in elements of post rock. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them and the flutes also add in some psychedelic touches.
Spoken word parts are also added into some parts of the recording which also takes the music into a heavier direction. A great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
Grim yet high pitched black metal screams are also a very huge parts of the recording along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When keyboards are utilized they also give the music more of an atmospheric feeling as well as adding in a touch of ambient and the riffs also adding in a great amount of melody, a couple of the tracks is also instrumentals and clean vocals can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover personal experiences to science to our place and purpose in this massive thing called The Universe.
In my opinion Fugit are a very great sounding post black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Scientist's Curse" "Inertia" and "Social Coercion". 8 out of 10.
