Todestriebe are a band from Russia that plays a fast and aggressive form of satanic occult black metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "In The Vortex Of Destructive Creations" which was released by Obscurant Visions.
A very dark and ritualistic sounding intro starts off the album along with some demonic voices before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats, Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams and the music also adds in a great amount of 90's influences.
Dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the songs also add in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The music also shows some touches of the Swedish style along with the guitar solos and leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic style.
The music also having a good mixture of both old school and modern elements as well as some death metal growls also being utilized briefly on a few songs along with all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them and the album closes with a synth orientated outro. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover Blasphemy, Anti Cosmic Satanism, Luciferian, Left Hand Path, Black Magick, Occultism and Underworld themes.
In my opinion Todestriebe are a very great sounding fast and aggressive satanic occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lord Of The Fathomless Sea" "Supreme Dark Coronation" and "Bestial Obscurantism". 8 out of 10.
