Transilvania are a band from Austria that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a very raw and old school mixture of black and thrash metal and this is a review of their album "Of Sleep And Death" which will be released in 2020 by Invictus Productions.
Horror movie style synths start off the album which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style while clean playing can also be heard in some parts of the recording and the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. The songs also bring in a great amount of 80's and 90's influences and throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
A great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the riffs also adding in a great amount of melody. as well as some of the riffing also bringing in elements of thrash metal. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Vampirism, Occultism and Horror themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Transilvania and if you are a fan of raw, old school and melodic black and thrash metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Opus Morbi" "Lycanthropic Chant" and "Underneath Dying stars". 8 out of 10.
