Black Death Cult/Devil's Paradise/Hells Headbangers/2020 CD Review

 

  Black  Death  Cult  are  a  band  from  Canada  that  plays  an  occult  mixture  of  black,  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Devil's  Paradise"  which  will  be  released  on  November  27th  by  Hells  Headbangers.

  Clean  playing  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  synths  are  also  mixed  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  music at  times. 

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  black  metal  feeling.  Vocals  are  done  in  mostly  a  deep  death  metal  style  while  elements  of  doom  metal  can  also be  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  some  whispered  vocals  also  being  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  ritualistic  feeling.  A  lot  of  the  songs  are  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  as  well  as  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  A great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  grim  sounding  screams  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  vocals  as  well  as one  track  also  introducing  clean  vocals  onto  the  recording  which  also  enhances  the  occult  atmosphere  of  the  recording  as  well  as  the  synths  also  having  their  psychedelic  moments.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Transhumanism  and  Artificial  Intelligence  themes.

In  My  opinion  Black  Death  Cult  are  a  very  great  sounding  occult  mixture  of black,  doom  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Infernal  Triad"  "Nightside  Of  The  Pyramids" and  "The  Unnamable".  8/5 out  of  10.
