Bestialis are a band from Germany that plays a very traditional form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 ep "Ritus" which was released by Vendetta Records.
Classical guitars start off the ep before going into a heavier musical direction while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams along with some clean vocals also being utilized briefly.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with some acoustic guitars, percussion's and throat singing also being utilized briefly.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodics and the middle eastern music elements also give the music more of a ritualistic feeling, growls are also added on the closing song. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover bull cults from prehistoric times, Mesopotamian and Persian Mythology.
In my opinion Bestialis are a very great sounding traditional black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Re-Incantation" and "Non-Domestication: Fall Of Gilgamesh". 8 out of 10.
