Monvment are a band from Chicago, Illinois that plays that plays an atmospheric and experimental form of raw and primitive black metal and this is a review of their 2010 demo "I" which was released by Soy y Nieve.
Drum programming ranges from slow, mid paced to fast beats, while the synths and sound effects bring in the atmospheric and experimental elements, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding evoking a lo -fi sound in the riffing and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording, as for the acoustic guitars which are only used briefly use finger picking and full chords to add more experimental elements to the demo.
Vocals range from grim sounding black metal screams to clean singing chanting along with a brief use of deep demonic growls, whispers and spoken word parts, while the lyrics cover duality and mysticism, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound with most of the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Monvment are a very great sounding experimental and atmospheric, raw and primitive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "With The Nature Of Wind Surrounding" and "Mors et Vita". RECOMMENDED BUY.
