Outer Gods are a duo from Atlanta, Georgia that plays a mixture of post black metal and noise and this is a review of their 2013 album "Lights Dims Eternal" which was released by Domestic Genocide.
Power Electronics bring in the harsh noise and drone elements to the recording which gives the music a very dark and heavy sound, while the keyboards add synths add even more to the avant garde qualities of the album.
Rhythm guitars are all slow riffs that combine black metal, post rock, drone and harsh noise together to create a sound of their own mixing in a great amount of heavy distortion and clean playing and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals range from high pitched black metal screams to spoken word parts, while the song themes cover darkness and occultism, as for the production it has a very dark, heavy, raw and primitive sound with the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Outer Gods are a very great sounding hybrid of post black metal, drone and noise and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Future Decay" and "Blessed Be The Host Of Sorrow". RECOMMENDED BUY.
