Orok are a band from Portugal that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their self titled and self released 2013 album.
Drum programming ranges from slow, mid paced to fast programmed beats giving the album a militant feeling, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars, as for the synths when they are utilized bring a very dark, ambient and atmospheric sound to the album.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast atmospheric black metal riffs that utilize some raw and primitive elements while retaining a melodic and modern approach to the genre, while the lead guitars are very dark and melodic sounding atmospheric black metal guitar solos and leads.
Vocals are all grim sounding distorted black metal s creams, while the lyrics are written in their native tongue and cover dark themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound with the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Orok are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Krot" and "Karntschzen". RECOMMENDED BUY.
