Bloodrain are a band from Russia that plays a very raw, melodic, and satanic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2013 compilation "Bloodrain: Ultimatum & Nomen Nostrum Legio" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath Records and Possession Productions and consist of their 2003 and 2006 albums off the same name.
A very dark and evil synth along with some ritualistic spoken word parts start off the compilation and after the intro the music gets more heavier and melodic along with some morbid sounding melodies and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and when the music speeds up it goes into more of a raw black metal direction.
Blast beats can be heard quite a bit during the faster sections of the music and the vocals are high pitched black metal screams while the solos and leads also utilize a great amount of melody and classical guitars can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while one tracks also adds in a few seconds of power metal screams.
Throughout the compilation you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the music also adds in a touch of classic and thrash metal at times and some songs also bring in a small amount of clean singing and as the compilation progresses bass leads are also used at times and they also bring in a cover of Kreator's "Bringer Of Torture" and the second album on the compilation has more of a raw yet melodic style of black metal while also still being very melodic and thrash influenced and they also include a cover of Profantica's "Spilling Holy Blood" before closing the compilation with one of their own tracks.
Bloodrain plays a style of satanic black metal that can be both very raw and melodic while also being very heavily influenced by thrash, the production sounds very powerful and heavy while the lyrics are written in Russian and cover Satanism and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Bloodrain are a very great sounding thrash influenced, satanic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Shining From Beyond" "Under The Lucifer's Star" "Will Of Baphomet" and "Images Of Evil". 8 out of 10.
