Svarthaueg are a band from Norway that plays a very raw form of occult black metal and this is a review of their 2012 ep "Ritual" which was released by Satanath Records.
A very heavy, fast and raw black metal sound starts off the ep along with a great amount of blast beats and high pitched screams and after awhile the songs start bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the vocals also have their angry yet grim moments and the riffs also use a great amount of tremolo picking.
At times the vocals can be very depressive and the riffs also bring in melodies at times while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and the music goes back to the mid 90's style of fast black metal as well as bringing back to the chaos that was present in that era and the last track also brings in a brief use of melodic guitar leads.
Svarthaueg plays a style of black metal that is very fast and raw in the mid 90's tradition and they keep everything in a very chaotic musical direction, the production sounds very raw yet powerful at the same time while the lyrics cover Occultism themes.
In my opinion Svarthaeueg are a very great sounding fast and raw occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Balam" and "Enter Chaos". 8 out of 10.
