Nil Abyss are a band from Australia that plays a very raw and mid paced form of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Burgeoning Death Void" which was released on cassette by Nebular Carcoma Records.
Atmospheric sounds start off the album and after a few seconds the music starts going into more of a heavy and dark musical direction and melodies can also be heard in the music at times and after awhile grim black metal screams make their presence known on the recording and when the music speeds up it goes for more of a raw sound.
Blast beats can be heard quite a bit during the faster sections of the songs and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with most of the tracks being very long and epic in length and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the guitars focus more on power chord rhythms with no solos or leads ever being utilized.
Nil Abyss creates a very guitar driven style of black metal that is very raw at times while also focusing more on mid paced style riffing to create some very dark and heavy music, the production sounds very raw yet heavy at the same time while the lyrics cover Immorality themes.
In my opinion Nil Abyss are a very great sounding raw and mid paced black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this cassette. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hunger And The Peasant" and "Commencement". 8 out of 10.
