Five The Hierophant are a band from the United Kingdom that plays an instrumental mixture of post black metal, doom, drone, ambient, psychedelia, and jazz and this is a review of their self titled ep which was released by Witching Hour Productions.
Drum beats and spoken word parts start off the ep along with some reverb's before adding in heavy guitars which are very heavily influenced by doom and atmospheric black metal and saxophones which also add elements of free form jazz to the bands musical style and none of the tracks ever use any singing or screaming.
Drones can be heard in some parts of the songs while some riffs add in a small amount of melody and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and you can also hear a touch of psychedelia and ambient in the bands musical style and all of the songs remain true to a very slow musical direction.
Five The Hierophant plays a musical style that takes post black metal and doom and mixes it with a touch of drone, ambient and fee form jazz as well as using spoken word parts instead of vocals to create a sound of their own and the production also sounds very powerful.
In my opinion Five The Hierophant are a very great sounding instrumental mixture of post black metal, doom drone, ambient, psychedelia, and jazz and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Witches tale" and "The Hierophant". 8 out of 10.
