The Shiva Hypothesis are a band from the Netherlands that plays an atmospheric form of black metal with some elements of death and thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2015 promo.
Electronic music sounds start offf the promo before adding in heavy and melodic guitar riffs that also leads up to some deep blackened metal vocals that also have a touch of death metal to them while also bringing in high pitched screams and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Influences of thrash can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be heard and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the songs also mix the 90's, 2000's and modern styles of black and death metal together and there are also some avant garde elements also being utilized at times and when solos and leads are utilized they are mostly done in a death metal style and they also bring in a brief use of clean playing and melodic singing and one of the tracks is very long and epic in length.
The Shiva Hypothesis plays a musical style that takes the avant garde and atmospheric styles of black metal and mixes them with death and thrash metal to create a style of t heir own, the production sounds very professional for being a self released promo while the lyrics cover philosophical themes.
In my opinion the Shiva Hypothesis are a very great sounding mixture of atmospheric, avant garde black metal, death and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Maze Of Delusion". 8 out of 10.
