Finland's solo project Charming Timur have returned with a new recording that continues the alternative, nu, experimental and post black metal of previous recordings and this is a review of his self released album "So Much, So Little, So Little, So Much' which will be released in 2016.
Ambient sounds start off the album before adding in melodic alternative rock style guitar leads a few seconds later and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to t hem and the vocals are whispers that are in a black metal direction and death metal growls and clean singing can be heard quite a lot throughout the recording.
A lot of nu metal elements can be heard in the guitar riffing and the riffs also have a melodic yet depressive black metal tone to them at times and there is a great amount of experimentation present throughout the whole recording and every song sounds different from each other and there are also psychedelic elements being utilized at times.
There are plenty of mainstream mid 90's rock and metal influences mixing in with the more extreme genres that where both enemies back in that time frame and there is also a couple of instrumental tracks later on during the recording and some of the songs also mix in electronic elements and more high pitched black metal screams are added onto the later songs and when clean playing is utilized it gives the music more of a post rock feeling.
With this recording Charming Timur still retains a black metal edge while also adding in elements of death metal and focusing more of the nu metal, alternative, experimental and post rock influences this time around to create a very original sounding recording, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover angry and real life themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Charming Timur and if you are a fan of alternative, nu, and post black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "My Last" "Gone Blaze" "Bad Choice" and "Going Insane". 8 out of 10.
