St Barthelemy's Temple are a band from France that plays a raw mixture of black and doom metal and this is a review of their 2017 ep "The Cold Mouth Of The Earth" which was released by Atavism Records.
Distorted amp sounds start off the ep along with some slow riffing that is very heavily rooted in doom and sludge metal a few seconds later while the vocals are very grim and angry sounding black metal screams and when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion.
All of the musical instruments sound very powerful while the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody along with all of the tracks being very long and epic in length and at times the screams also gives the songs more of a depressive touch and when the music speeds up a small amount of bass tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling and the music always remains heavy.
St Barthelemy's Temple plays a musical style that takes raw black metal and doom metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover anti christian themes.
In my opinion St Barthelemy's Temple are a very great sounding raw mixture of black and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "To The Baneful Oblivion". 8 out of 10.
