Ziggurat are a band from Israel that plays an occult mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2017 ep 'Ritual Miasma" which was released on cassette by Caligari Records.
Distorted drones start off the ep along with some melodic riffing a few seconds later and after awhile blast beats and bestial growls are added onto the recording while the tremolo picking also gives the songs more of a raw feeling along with the riffs also bringing in a decent amount of melody.
At times the vocals get very guttural while the solos and leads are done in a very dark, raw and melodic fashion along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as all of the musical instruments sounding very powerful and the music always remains very heavy and the closing track is an instrumental.
Ziggurat plays a musical style that takes a raw form of black metal and mixes it with the brutality of death metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness and occultism themes.
In my opinion Ziggurat are a very great sounding occult mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Summoning The Giant Serpent" and "Death Rites Transcendence". 8 out of 10.
