Atramentum are a solo project from the United Kingdom that plays a religious and orthodox form of occult black metal and this is a review of his self released 2017 album "Aischrolatry".
Dark yet heavy riffing starts off the album along with some melodic guitar leads along with the vocals being mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams that also get very deep and demonic and times and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the songs more of a raw feeling while some of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the music also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them, when growls are utilized they also add in a touch of death metal and clean playing can also be heard briefly and the closing track is an instrumental.
Atramentum plays a style of religious orthodox occult black metal that is more raw than most bands from t his genre, the production sounds very powerful for being a self released recording while the lyrics are a concept album and cover Satanism and the Qliphoth.
In my opinion Atramentum are a very great sounding religious, orthodox occult black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Queen Of The Night" "Ravens Of Dispersion" "The Smiters" and "Duality OF God". 8 out of 10.
