Starless Domain are a band from the United States which also contains members of Stellar Descent, Twilight Falls, Boreal and Footpaths that plays a musical style they refer to as being 'deep field black metal' and this is a review of their 2019 album "EOS" which will be released in May as a joint effort between Pacific Threnodies and Black Horizons.
Ambient and synths synths start off the song which is also divided into 4 different chapters and almost and hour in length while also mixing in with the heavier sections of the music quite a bit throughout the recording. Vocals are mostly tortured yet high pitched black metal screams.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding while demonic growls are also added into some parts of the music and the riffs also get very repetitive sounding for a few minutes on end.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The synths also start utilizing a variety of many different sounding keys as the album progresses along with some acoustic guitars also being added onto the recording. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover deep space, auroras, emptiness, uncertainty and science fiction themes.
In my opinion Starless Domain are a very great sounding deep field black metal band and if you are looking for something that is very original, you should check out this recording. 8 out of 10.
