Lux Nigrum/Burning The Eternal Return/Herejia Records/Street Metal Blasphemy/2019 EP Review

  Lux  Nigrum  are  a  duo  with  members  from  Chile  that  have  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  dissonant  form  of  satanic  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their 2019  ep  "Burning  The  Eternal  Return"  which  will  be  released  on  cassette as  a  joint  effort  between  Herejia  Records  and  Street  Metal  Blasphemy.

  A  very  dark,  heavy  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding black  metal  screams  and  the  music  also  has  a  great  amount  of  90's  influences  but  done  in  more  of  a  modern  style.

  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  dissonant  sounding  while  also  mixing  it  in  with  more  of  an  old  school  style.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  On  this  recording  Lux  Nigrum  adds  more  dissonant  structures  to  their  raw  and  chaotic  style  of  satanic  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Anti  Cosmic  Doctrines  and  Chaos  Magick  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Lux  Nigrum  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  dissonant  satanic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Burning  the  Eternal  Return"  and  "Wrathful  Chaos".  8  out  of  10.
