Kull are a band from the United Kingdom with some former members of Bal Sagoth that plays an epic form of black metal with some symphonic elements and this is a review of their 2019 album "Exile" which will be released in May by Black Lion Records.
A very epic sounding intro starts off the album and also introduces synths and keyboards onto the recording that also mix in with a lot of the heavier sections of the music. Grim whispers and death metal growls can also be heard at times while the music also mixes in a decent amount of symphonic elements.
Black metal screams and spoken word parts can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they also add in a decent amount of melody and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while some of the tracks are long and epic in length, as the album progresses a brief use of clean vocals can also be heard. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover science fiction, fantasy, mythology and occultism themes.
In my opinion Kull are a very great sounding epic black metal band with some symphonic elements and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Set Nakt Heh" "Hordes Ride" "By Lucifer's Crown" and "Of Stting Suns And Rising Moons". 8/5 out of 10.
