Sorgelig are a band from Greece that plays a very raw, old school and French influenced form of black metal and this is a review of their 2019 ep "Devoted To Nothingness" which will be released in May by Iron Bonehead Productions.
A very dark guitar sound starts off the ep before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals a re mostly high pitched black emtal screams along with some angry spoken parts also being used at times.
All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Most of the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's French style along with some guitar solos and leads also being utilized at times and the vocals also add in a very tortured and depressive tone in some parts of the music, synths can also be heard on the closing track.
Sorgelig plays a style of black metal that is very raw and old school in the Black Legions style. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics darkness and misanthropy themes.
In my opinion Sorgelig are a very great sounding raw and misanthropic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out t his ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Die In Vain" and "We Shall Be Forever Blind". 8/5 out of 10.
