Greece's solo project Eriphon have returned with a new recording which shows the music going for more of an experimental style of post black metal and this is a review oh his 2020 ep "Thanatographia".
Dark soundscapes start off the ep along with some drum beats a few seconds later before going into a heavier direction . Keyboards can also be heard at times while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while most of the tracks are very long and epic in length. At times the music also gets very experimental sounding along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the vocals getting deeper on later songs, elements of post metal can also be heard in some parts of the music and clean vocals can also be heard on a few songs.
On this recording Eriphon takes his music into more of an experimental post black metal direction which is different from previous year releases . The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness , death and anti religion themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Eriphon and if you are a fan of experimental post black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE ''Destined For Asine" and "EmptyGrave". 8 out of 10.
