Naragon are a solo project from Germany that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2020 ep "Winter Of Depression" which was released by Wolfmond Production.
Rain and thunder sounds start off the ep along with some synths, drum beats and heavy riffing a few seconds later which also get more powerful sounding after a few seconds. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very dark yet melodic style along with the music also getting very atmospheric sounding at times.
Vocals are grim sounding black metal screams while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with a couple of tracks also adding in session work from Askvald, cries and clean playing can also be heard briefly as well as all of the music also sticking to a slower direction. all of the drum beats are also programmed and as the ep progresses an instrumental can also be heard and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly on the closing track.
Naragon plays a style of black metal that is very slow, melodic and atmospheric sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in German and cover darkness and depression themes.
In my opinion Naragon are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nebel des Lebens" and "Todeshass". 8 out of 10.
