Norway's Myrholt have returned with a new recording with 3 tracks one being black metal and 2 being instrumentals and the other 3 being Dead Can Dance, Slayer and Black Sabbath covers and this is a review of their 2020 ep "Retterting" which will be released on December 18th as a joint effort between Screaming Skull and Darker than Black Records.
Hard yet heavy riffing starts off the ep while the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody while grim black metal screams a re also a very huge part of the recording. Clean vocals are also added onto some of the tracks along with the guitar solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style.
Synths can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while a couple of the tacks are also very long and epic in length. A lot of the music also adds in a decent amount of 90's influences along with some spoken word parts also being utilized briefly as well as one of the songs being all acoustical and the ep closes with a synth orientated instrumental.
On this recording Myrholt brings in one original black metal track, 2 instrumentals and 3 cover songs which they also translate into Norwegian. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover nature themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Myrholt and if you are a fan Of Norwegian black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Til Hinnoms Dal" and "Tegn fra Universet". 8 out of 10.
