Meister Leonhardt are a band from Russia that plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of their self titled album which will be released in 2021 by Purity Through Fire.
A synth orientated intro starts off the album before going into a heavier musical direction while a couple of the songs are also long and epic in length. When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the music more of a raw feeling along with the vocals being mostly high pitched black metal screams.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the music also brings in a great amount of 90's influences. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with the guitar leads also being done in a very dark yet melodic style and most of the music sticks to either a slow or mid tempo style.
Meister Leonhardt plays a style of black metal that is very raw and sticks mostly to a mid tempo direction. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are a concept album based upon Meyrink's mini novel.
In my opinion Meister Leonhardt are a very great sounding raw black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Crown Of Consenescence" and "The Greatest Of Circles". 8 out of 10.
