Light Being are a solo project from Moorpark, California that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2021 album "A Way Into Dreams".
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the album while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording. Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the music more of a raw feeling while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. One of the tracks also introduces spoken word parts onto the recording along with the music also having its atmospheric moments without ever losing any aggression.
Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with some dark sounding melodies also being added into the guitar riffing at times as well as one song also introducing clean playing onto the album. Synths can also be heard on a couple of tracks and as the album progresses an instrumental can also be heard, clear vocals are also utilized briefly and cello's are added on the two closing songs. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover mental illness themes.
In my opinion Light Being are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Adrift" "Shadows" "Downpour" and "Petrous". 8 out of 10.
