Ründgard are a band from Chile that plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Stronghold Of Majestic Ruins" which will be released in November by Signal Rex.
A very epic sounding synth orientated intro starts off the album and also gives the recording more of an epic and medieval feeling before going into a heavier musical direction. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams and the music also mixes in influences from both the Nordic and polish styles of the 90's era.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. A very dark atmosphere can also be heard in the background of the heavier sections of the album at times along with the tracks also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as some melodies also being added into some of the guitar riffing and syn5ths also return on the closing song which is also an instrumental..
Ründgard plays a style of black metal that is very raw and epic sounding in the 90's European tradition. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover archaic dimensional Valdivian forces.
In my opinion Ründgard are a very great sounding raw and epic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Descending From The Southern Skies" and "Spirits From The Medieval Storms". 8 out of 10.
